Unexpected Inspo

I've been taking pictures of flowers out on my walks and adding it to a “color inspo” folder on my phone, so that I can reference it when making decisions for house projects. I got this idea from Justina Blakney, whose aesthetic I love and whose approach has challenged the way I think about design (a side-passion of mine).

(As an aside, her most recent book Decorate Wild is so much fun to read, with lots of fun ways to think about how to mine inspiration, from nature in particular).

It's also a general reminder that inspiration often lives outside of the lines of the thing you're working on. If you're stuck on something while at your desk, go for a walk. If you have writer's block, strum a guitar. If you're overwhelmed with decisions, go water your plants.

Diversify. Feed your brain and body and soul an array of inspiration from unexpected places, and trust that the'y’ll all combine to make something beautiful.
