Transforming the 'hate' energy

I’ve been working with a client for a few months, who came to me because she was burnt out on her corporate job. When we began, she said, “I find corporate life completely draining and unsatisfying. I feel as though I am wasting my days slaving away at excel spreadsheets and looking at data that is meaningless to me.There has to be something more fulfilling out there!”

She wanted to do something more creative, but she didn’t know what that was.

So over the past few months, we’ve been following the threads of what she loves. What lights her up. What piques her interest. And we’ve been giving her permission to love them and explore them.

Some of the things she loves are design, interior decorating, and connecting with people one-on-one.

And this weekend, she’s hosing her first ever pop-up shop where she’ll be selling some of her own collections of furniture and vintage items.

It’s an experiment. It’s something she never could have predicted she’d be doing. It’s anything but “draining and unsatisfying.”

When I asked her what made this possible, she said, "I was spending so much of my energy on hating corporate. Now I’ve taken the ‘hate’ energy I was putting towards working, and that’s given me the space to work towards other things that make me happy.”

Often, our lives feel so busy that we can’t imagine how we’ll find the time and energy to carve a new path. But we neglect to realize how much energy our hatred, resentment and stress takes up. So start there.

Transform the hate energy into something else. Find something that lights you up and give yourself permission to explore it.
